The Committee
They said ‘If you’re joining the WI
So I went to the church hall one night after seven
You just pay your subs and it’s easy as pie.
You listen to speakers and sit at your ease
Then someone comes round with the biscuits and teas.’
Determined to sample this foretaste of heaven,
But I’m trusting by nature – it seems such a pity,
For when I turned round I was on the Committee.
